Caroline Künzle (she/her) has a deep knowledge of sound, having trained as a classical violinist for 10 years and performed in musical projects since 1999. She has worked in sound / radio art production and radio broadcasting and podcasting for over 25 years, while maintaining a visual arts and writing practice. Trained by ear, her sound practice begins with listening and her work privileges voices that are often absent from the public sphere. Her current art and audio work is rooted in relationships with various community organizations in Montréal: at Loisirs Communautaires Saint-Michel (LCSM), she’s teaching podcast production to local youth and is developing an audio oral history project with seniors; she facilitated weekly Art Hive sessions at the Petite-Patrie community centre, La Maisonnette des Parents; and she records the multilingual dinner conversations of a local group of single mothers, broadcast monthly on CKUT Radio as The Teachings, extending intimate moments of exchange into the public sonic landscape.
