Subsonic Somethings experiments with deep and active listening and what it means to respond to the sounds of the city. We enter into dialogue with sonic elements sampled from our environment, while aiming to fuse humour, care, and a sense of place into these audible entanglements. We see each of our unique approaches to the ecologies of sound as a strength and opportunity to learn from one another and create absurd, provoking, and playful works together.
At the root of Subsonic Somethings is a desire for play, experimentation and reaching outwards towards others. Creating playful curiosity where there could be chaos. We challenge the exclusivity of sound by working with low-fi and DIY tools, sample sounds from the city, drawing our surroundings in while reaching out. Subsonic Something is an invitation to ask “What do we sound like?”, “Why do we sound like that?”
